I feel web 2.0 is a huge improvement from web 1.0 as in web 1.0, the web master had to constantly update the website with the latest information and was burdened. Since the web master is not free all of the time, the latest news may not be instantly on the website and what people think is the latest may not be too. On some websites, the website is only updated at a certain time, like once every two days or once a week. Thus, the information on the website may be some what unreliable. There is also a lack of varied thoughts and opinions as only one person mans the website. Nowadays, people are busier and will not be satisfied with trawling through the Internet to look for a good source of news. They want a website which provides them with a quick and easy way to keep in touch with the rest of the world and all the advances.
On the other hand, in web 2.0, anyone can post news and updates, not just the web master. Thousands of people visit a website every day. If just one person updates the website for each day , everyone will be kept informed. So, everyone shares the same task of contributing information. A good example of this is wikipedia, where anyone can post articles. In addition, on websites like youtube, facebook, flickr, and blogger, people can also share pictures, videos, their thoughts and other interesting things they may want others( especially friends) to see.
The internet has definitely benefited from the introduction of web 2.0.
